ABOUT ME

Hi! My name is Steph Carson. I am the health and science loving foodie behind The Real Peel.

First and foremost, I believe good health is the most valuable form of wealth. Without your health it’s hard to fully enjoy all other aspects of life, right? Here is the best part: It’s not "all-or-none". Adding little healthy habits to our daily routines can have a big impact on overall well being and long-term health.

This is why I try to live a life of balance, moderation, and finding what makes me feel my best. I enjoy all foods in moderation, but my love for plant-based foods is real. I also love being active, warm weather, grocery shopping and a fresh day planner. If I’m not in the kitchen, you can find me busy at work, working-out or spending time with my family and friends.

Growing up I was always amazed by the power of real food and physical activity. However, I developed a true interest in nutrition after learning about the science of human health and the role lifestyle plays on health outcomes while I completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Sciences. I began to look at nutrition, physical activity and healthy living as an investment, a proactive solution that can help reduce the burden of chronic lifestyle-related diseases and help improve quality of life. It became very clear that this was my passion and I had to learn more. In 2013, I completed a Masters of Science in Human Health and Nutritional Sciences.

Now I want to share my knowledge with you and bring nutrition to life.

I created The Real Peel to inspire healthy choices and to show you that a healthy lifestyle doesn’t have to be boring or bland. It can be full of colour, flavour, energy, and excitement. Healthy living is exactly that, living! I hope to make it easier for you by sharing simple recipes, tips and tricks that work for me.

Come find what works for you!

Happy peeling!

EAT FOOD. NOT TOO MUCH. MOSTLY PLANTS.
— Michael Pollan

This statement made by Michael Pollan is one of my favourites. There is no real magic formula or secret when it comes to nutrition. Simply eat real whole foods in moderation and ensure that the majority of your calories are coming from plant-based foods.
